Topps releases 2024 Excellenza set
Wow, Topps are again pushing out a new F1 trading card set – this time, Topps Italy have released the new 2024 Topps Excellenza cards.
There are 148 cards in the complete set and Excellenza boxes retail for €175 with each box containing 7 cards. Each box guarantees a race worn patch relic card and 2 numbered parallels. Excellenza series cards are known for driver portraits against roman arches themed background using thick premium stock card material.
Looking at the 2024 checklist, not all drivers are included but you will find Oliver Oakes (Alpine team principal) and Franco Colapinto (Williams Racing) representing the 2nd half of 2024 season. Cards for both RB Visa Cash App drivers Liam Lawson and Danny Ric are missing from this set.
The interesting cards in the 2024 Excellenza set are:
- inclusion of James Hunt card
- new autograph legends cards for Mika Hakkinen, Juan Pablo Montoya, Gerhard Berger
- foldout autograph book cards – dual and quad (Prost, Mario Andretti, Hakkinen, Mansell)
- racing suit relic cards for 2024 drivers plus Michael Schumacher and Nigel Mansell
- glove relic cards including Nigel Mansell
- shoe relic cards for Michael Schumacher and Nigel Mansell
Although the cost per card is approx €25 from the retail Excellenza box, the guarantee of a patch relic card positions Excellenza as cheaper alternative to the higher end Topps Dynasty cards. At this price point, it remains to be seen whether its just hard core collectors that will pick these off or drawn down budgets of casual Chrome collectors too.
The sample cards on the Topps website look great, especially the autograph book foldout cards.
