Book Review: Little People, Big Dreams – Lewis Hamilton by Maria Isabel Sánchez Vegara
Positives
Negatives
Back in 2020, I posted a review of Maria Isabel Sánchez Vegara’s children’s book on Ayrton Senna which was part of her popular “Little People, Big Dreams” biography series for little ones. Well, she has now added a book on Sir Lewis Hamilton to her series.
At 28 pages, the book format is very familiar – it charts the personal history from childhood to world champion of Lewis Hamilton in colourful artwork. Lewis’ humble upbringing with his dad supporting his early karting success, proposing to Ron Dennis, debuting for McLaren and winning his first title in 2008 are all accurately captured. There’s less of emphasis on Lewis’ Mercedes racing achievements though and more on his diversity and black lives matters work.
As can be expected from a kids book, there is no mention at all of Lewis’ battles with his career protagonists – Fernando (2007), Nico (2016) and Max (2021). Which is a bit of a shame.
Like the previous Senna book in this series, there is a rear 2 page overview of Lewis’ career timeline.
Wow factor/Money shot: colorfully accurate artwork
Suitable for: Lewis fans and their kids
