Thoughts: The 2012 season

Another season over and Sebastian enters the triple champions club (a little luckily I should add). 2012 was looking like it could be another open season of 1982 proportions. It was a season of 2 halves really, Fernando’s consistency blitzed the field when every team’s car performance was unpredictable whilst Sebastian proved that as soon as Adrian Newey gets on top of the aero regulations, their car/driver package is almost unbeatable. The season highlights to me were the emotional ones – Pastor Maldonado’s maiden win in Barcelona, Fernando’s home GP win in Valencia and Kamui Kobayashi’s maiden podium at Suzuka.

On the book front, I haven’t noticed too many major book releases this year, although it looks like there are a few nice 2012 hardcovers that I have yet to read, including “Schlegelmilch 50 Years of Photography” and “McLaren The Art of Racing“. As I mentioned in an earlier post, its bizarre that there are so few books on the current multiple world champions Vettel and Alonso, so maybe they have yet to hit their peak….

As for the F1-nut.com website, its almost going to be 6 months old and its still very much a learning experience. I am hoping to revamp the website to a more modern look over the next few months, in the meantime I will continue to post reviews of books from my collection (new and old favorites). So make sure to bookmark the site and visit…
