Book review: A History of Ferrari – Ladybird Readers by Sorrel Pitts
Positives
Negatives
Short intermission from trading cards and back to book reviews. With the F1 circus moving on to Monza this weekend, much of the usual focus is on the 2 Ferrari drivers under the watchful scrutiny of the tifosi.
For tifosi, there really is no minimum age for membership! If you have a junior and want to share the history of Enzo and the red scarlet cars, the Ladybird series is a decent introductory book.
At 64 pages, this book is rated level 3 and covers the history of the Scuderia Ferrari from a young Enzo in an Alfa Romeo to Seb Vettel in 2018’s SF71H. The rear of the book provides a few pages of quiz activities to test comprehension. Did you the origins of the prancing horse logo?
Although it’s meant to be a reading book, there are lots of photos of red Ferrari cars to enjoy including the classic 125S, Dino 246, Testarossa, F40 and LaFerrari.
As far as race chassis, the book includes Ascari’s 500 F2, the 375 F1 and the SF71H. Of the famous Ferrari drivers Nuvolari, Gonzalez, Ascari, Niki, Jody, Gilles, Michael, Seb and Kimi are mentioned.
Its a very simple book for juniors but one with actual photos that even adult tifosi can also enjoy.
Wow factor/Money shot: Ascari photos look very crisp and a few nice Schumacher tribute shots.
Suitable for: Junior F1 fans
