Rare and hard to find Spark F1 models – 2021 update

It’s hard to believe that it’s been exactly 8 years ago when I first posted on rare Spark F1 models in 2013 and 2014 – and since then I’ve received a number of requests to update it. While Spark still occupy a niche in the 1:43 scale due to their licensing of older marques from the 70’s, 80’s and 90’s era of F1 like Matra, Shadow and Ligier, their 1:18 scale resins models are incredibly well liked by collectors. The popularity of their 1:18 scale Hamilton Mercedes AMG championship cars and Red Bulls are evident alongside vintage Lotus, Shadow Brabham cars.

Spark really occupy the niche for 1960’s, 70’s and 80’s F1 cars from the smaller teams and particularly debut or maiden GP winning cars raced by world champions like Jim Clark, Jackie Stewart, Niki Lauda, James Hunt and Alan Jones.

Spark resin models are excellent, if not more detailed than their Minichamps counterparts. Way back in 2012, I did a compare post of Spark v Minichamps in the 1:43 scale however in the 1:18 scale category in 2021, the quality of the Spark resin models are probably equally better.

The sale prices on auction sites can vary greatly between auction sales and buy now prices for various models. Typically auction prices are a better indicator of market value.
