Remember when Lewis last had a yellow helmet? Published in 2009 when Kimi, Fernando and Lewis were the top guns, this short hardcover book by Bruce Jones has Lewis MP4/23 on the cover. It’s one you may find in the bargain bins, but content-wise it is geared specifically for junior readers.
Every 2 pages provides a photo splash foldouts covering various aspects of F1 including the cars, drivers, cockpit, driving & tyres, qualifying & race, team, pitstops, garage, tracks, paddock trucks, world champions. In 28 pages you can get a whirlwind guide to all these.
There are colour thumbnail photos everywhere and like several other mainstream F1 history books written by Bruce Jones, there are also paper outs , lift up photos (with information inside), pullout guides & posters.
This book won’t exactly excite F1 purists but budding F1 junior F1 fans might find it more to their taste.
Wow Factor/money shot: Even though its a little gimmicky, the centrefold popup of the Ferrari F2008 steering wheel and cockpit is not a bad effort. The paper steering wheel can even be turned!
Suitable for: Strictly junior F1 fans (the publisher rates it for 8-12 year olds).
